Lionsgate has produced many hit series over the years including Orange Is The New Black and Mad Men and are now eager to expand its television business. Lionsgate has agreed to buy premium cable network Starz for $4.4 billion dollars.
“The combination of Lionsgate and Starz brings significant scale to our portfolio of content and distribution assets and will enable us to compete successfully in today’s rapidly evolving global entertainment marketplace,” said Mark Rachesky, Lionsgate’s chairman of the board.
